Dear MVG Families,
I can’t believe the first week of camp is over, and what an amazing week it has been. As the campers arrived we welcomed them in the playground. Everyone was excited to meet their new camp family. From that very first day we went swimming in the lake, played lots of bonding games, and had the Welcome to Camp Show. This first week, campers got to choose their hobby. They are given a choice of different activities that they got to go to 3 days a week. This is a great opportunity for them to improve their sports skills, participate in our drama show, work on art projects, etc.
M5 and M6 went on a hike to Bald Spot, and M7 and M8 hiked to Bull Hill. I am extrememly proud to say that every camper made it to the top of their hike to see the beautiful views.
Our first Shabbat was great! It was made even more special by having our July 4th fireworks to end Shabbat. On July 5th was our carnival. There were bouncy houses, pie eating contests, air brush tattoos, water slides, and a dunk tank. In the afternoon there was a massive scavenger hunt followed by laser tag! The night ended with a themed red, white, and blue party.
We had an awesome time during our big sister/little sistere vent with Merrylane, the oldest girls unit in camp. Everyone got paired up with a “big sister” and went around to different stations. We painted each others’ nails, made bracelets, played sports, and made new friends.
In addition to all these special programs, we have also had our regular scheduled activities with specialsts. We’ve done arts & crafts, Teva, drama, dance, Israeli culture, tennis, and boating. I can’t wait to see what is in store for MVG in week 2!
