Well, the snow has finally melted and work has begun on our new farm. We have so many exciting things planned including a large fenced vegetable garden, a fruit orchard, vineyard, butterfly habitat, apiary (bee colony), a “Seven Species” garden, and much more.
Indoor planting is going into its third week–we already have thriving seedlings of cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, celery, onions, beets, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, and other non-GMO, organic veggies. Our fruit trees have arrived and will be in the ground before Volunteer Day. Flower beds are being laid out, and the vineyard is being installed in a couple of days.
Our caretaker, Gene, and his guys have been doing an amazing job of site prep. Below is an assortment of “before” pictures, along with an array of compelling photos of proliferating holes in the ground, torn up turf, logs set for site leveling, and our four flowers. The people in the pictures are me, Alan Forray, your Farm Director, and my wife and partner, Ivy Forray, who deserves much of the credit for all we have accomplished thus far.
Yep! We’re on our way and can’t wait for summer.
