What a great day to take some time to celebrate the planet–the Surprise Lake Camp Farm, the wonders of nature, and life in all its glory.
Today, as people in 192 countries across the globe turn their attention to the environment–to the air, water, and natural resources we all share–it is important to express a prayer of gratitude for all the riches of the earth, and to acknowledge the millions of inhabitants of our planet who make it their business to ensure that clean water, nutritious food, and diverse plant and animal life are abundant for all to enjoy.
As our newly planted saplings of apples, peaches, apricots, plums, figs, and concord grapes reach for the sky on their first Earth Day at Surprise Lake, let us take a moment to say:
Baruch atah adonai eloheinu melech ha’olam shecheyanu v’kiy’manu v’higyanu lazman hazeh.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, Sovereign of the Universe, who has granted us life, sustained us and enabled us to reach this occasion.
May your day be filled with sunshine and smiles.
