It is hard to believe that another 200 campers arrived yesterday! Luckily, Mother Nature was on our side… while Wednesday was hot and humid, a quick moving storm took care of the heat and humidity, leaving Thursday to be picture perfect. The sun was shining and there was a nice breeze… we couldn’t have asked for better weather!
The buses and campers all arrived by noon and, as per SLC tradition, we had a delicious pizza lunch! Since Arrival Day was on a Thursday, our new Session 2 campers were in for a treat – their first Theme Night Thursday! (In case you didn’t read our blog about them, you can do so here: http://wp.me/pFaFr-jC) This week, the theme was Hawaiian night. There was delicious Hawaiian chicken decorated with pineapple, coconut rice, and even a “pina colada” style drink served with little umbrellas! To add to the fun, we played beach party music and gave all the campers leis to wear. The feedback was that this was an excellent meal!
After dinner, campers attended “Meet the Specialists” at the Eddie Cantor Theater, where each specialist had a turn at “selling” their hobby or specialty.
We look forward to our first Shabbat of 2nd Session…
