Thunderstorm Drills & Sing Downs

The past few nights we’ve had some significant storms, forcing us to call thunderstorm drills.  When this happens, campers and staff are required to get indoors as soon as possible, stay away from windows and doors, and refrain from showering or using landlines.

When the campers are inside for long periods of time, it’s a great opportunity for Sing Downs!  During this game, the leader will give teams a word (i.e. love, rain, red, etc.), and the groups have one minute to think of as many songs as they can with that word in it.  Once the minute has passed, one team begins by singing a part of a song with that word in it.  All team members must sing it.  Then another team goes.  And so on.  No songs area allowed to be repeated.  In the end, the group who has the most songs, wins.

Two popular choices for words in the game recently have been “Rain” and “Sun”

The lord said to Noah, there’s gonna be a floody, floody

The Lord said to Noah: there’s gonna be a floody, floody

Get those children out of the muddy, muddy… Children of the Lord…

It rained & poured for 40 days -e – days… It rained & poured for 40 days-e -days….

Well… you get the idea!  The other popular one was:

The sun’ll come out, tomorrow!  Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there’ll be sun!”

Truth be told, a rainy day at camp is better than a sunny day anywhere else!  The proof is in the picture!

Tonight we welcomed Shabbat, and after Havdallah tomorrow, we’ll watch the fireworks over the lake!  Shabbat Shalom!
