A rose by any other name….

would smell as sweet.  Really…Romeo and Juliet….what does it mean?

What matters is what something is, not what it is called….at least that is my take on it.  My ramble today has nothing to do with Romeo an Juliet, but perhaps it has to do with a rose.  Roses are beautiful…different colors symbolize different things….

  • Yellow Rose: Joy, Protection against envious lovers, Mature love
  • White Rose: Purity, Sanctity, Secret admirer, Mysticism
  • Red Rose: Sacrifice, Immortal love, Health, Memorial, Passion
  • Pink Rose: First love, Innocence, Healing
  • Lots of meanings in one beautiful flower…..I saw one today…in the midst of gnats at camp and it made me smile…It was not yet opened, but that was the beauty of it….it was going to blossom…..that is how I feel about this summer.  This weekend is Parent Camper Orientation and Tour Day…a day when lots of “buds” arrive at camp….preparing for their “blooming” summer.  Anxious parents…nervous kids and an energetic staff ready to show them the magic of SLC.

The summer of 2010 lies ahead….a summer of opportunity, hope, growth and adventure for all of us.

I look forward to meeting the future of SLC on Sunday…one camper at a time.

If you know someone who would benefit from experiencing the magic of SLC…tell them about camp.  The campership incentive ($1,000 fee reduction) is available until May 30 and we have space available in session two.

See you soon and remember to stop and smell the roses….you might get inspired.
