Someone once told me that often inspiration comes in the form of a deadline….he was correct! Here it is Friday again and I am wondering what to write about.
It is freezing outside, Perhaps I am not the one to determine the cold as I am always cold but we got some snow at camp yesterday! Not break-out –your-sled snow but snow…in October! Think warm thoughts because in 36 ½ weeks we will all back at SLC. Yahoo!! I am not sure what people think we do all year. Actually I am certain they don’t know as I am often asked. ”What do you do the rest of the year?” Let’s see we do a lot but perhaps the most important thing is plan for the following summer. We look at what worked, what didn’t, where we can improve and move forward with those ideas. We always look toraise the bar alittle higher every year and 2010 is no different.
At the end of last summer we sent surveys to our camp families as well as our staff. The funny thing about surveys is that people tell you what they think……regardless of whether or not you like it. We set certain goals for 2009 and what better way to find out if we had achieved them then with a survey.
AND THE SURVEY SAYS…….
We did well in many areas. The most notable improvement was in the food service! We went up 50% from last years responses!!! Our new Chefs, Dave on Mainside and Aaron on Teenside, truly raised the bar! The meals at camp were delicious….not just good but delicious. It gives new meaning to the phrase “camp food”. Going forward we hope to do even better. Our goal is to improve the vegetarian options and to offer more variety. I trust that next summer you will let us know if we have achieved that goal.
Our goal of improving communication between parents and camp was also achieved. Our increased web presence gave parents an opportunity to see more photos as well as read our weekly newsletter. Daily facebook and twitter updates kept everyone in the loop on a daily basis.
There are many more survey questions and answers that we are very proud of and I will share them with you in the coming weeks. In the meantime survey results were not always 100% positive, so we are working on ways to make changes and improve for next summer. Many people at camp can tell you the importance of 2nd place……some far less winded then others…but the truth is we are the BEST IN JEWISH CAMPING and will continue to set the bar for everyone else. We welcome all your feedback and suggestions. Stay tuned for more survey results next week.
See you next week.
